Xenon technology

Unique lighting system performance with discharge lamp technology!

Xenon lighting systems give out light levels similar to daylight in an optimized light beam far superior to that produced by standard halogen lamps.

Valeo's xenon system uses a xenon light source producing twice as much light as that produced by standard halogen bulbs (3,200 lumens compared with 1,100 lumens) while also consuming less power (35 watts compared with 55 watts). It also offers a longer working life (3,000 hours compared with 500 hours).

Halogen vision

Xenon vision

A standard halogen bulb lamp, which is powered by the battery's DC output, uses a glowing filament and a reflector or projector module that directs the light beam, which looks slightly yellow in color. Valeo's xenon lamp technology, however, uses a discharge lamp containing a colorless gas and is powered by an alternating current (AC). An electronic module converts the direct current into an alternating current and so generates a high ignition voltage, supplying the Xenon auxiliary lamps with a much higher voltage.

The powerful light beam produced by the xenon system considerably improves long-range visibility and enables the driver to avoid any obstacles. The beam's increased width and homogeneity also provides improved lighting of the roadside, an additional safety factor, while the system's high optical performance generates increased driving comfort and reduces drowsiness.

Valeo’s xenon headlamp technology provides excellent lighting performance, thus considerably increasing safety for nighttime driving.

The beam emitted from the new Oscar Xenon headlamps is twice as long and twice as wide than that of a conventional headlamp beam issued by a standard halogen bulb.

Improved visibility

The Xenon lighting system improves visibility of distant obstacles by significantly extending the low beam, giving more than 100 meters of visibility, enabling drivers to better anticipate road signs or any potential obstacles on their nighttime journeys.

A broader field of vision

The xenon lighting system increases the width of the light beam, thus providing improved lighting of the roadside and enabling better anticipation of bends in the road. This is a significant benefit, given that 60% of accidents occur at night and particularly affect pedestrians and cyclists.

Unrivalled visual comfort

The xenon lighting system provides unrivalled comfort for drivers and reduces visual fatigue when driving at night. The homogeneity of the light beam, which is white and similar to the color of daylight, gives a natural shade to anything that is illuminated. Comfort is especially enhanced in difficult driving conditions (rain, fog, snow).
